Conversation between Mathilde François and MonkeyMind company

Emerging from disability activism, the concept of crip time refers to an alternative way of thinking about time that takes into account non-normative bodily rhythms, fatigue, pain, fluctuations in energy, care, medical treatment, and the unpredictability associated with disability or chronic illness. It proposes flexibility as a guiding principle.

In the performing arts, crip time invites creators to adapt the rhythms of making and performing to the realities of bodies, rather than imposing norms of productivity and performance. It challenges “able-bodied time”, which is productive, linear, fast and efficiency-driven.

Preceded by an inclusive dance workshop and followed by a collective rest session, this event will bring audiences together with members of the Flemish company MonkeyMind to explore the creative and performative modes that crip time inspires today.
